Spring
Hanatvirus
has made its presence in Arizona. If upon returning to your home
in Pinetop after a long winter shutdown, please take precautions. “The
best defense against infection with hantavirus is to avoid cleaning
or disturbing areas with recent rodent infestation including nests
and droppings," said Engelthaler. “If you do have to clean
up droppings or nests, be sure to thoroughly disinfect the area first.
Be especially cautious when entering a structure, such as a summer
cabin, that has been closed up. People who have been exposed to rodent
droppings and who become ill with HPS-like symptoms should seek medical
care."
Summer
If
you are barbequing on your patio deck, make sure you do not leave your cooking food "unattended" for long periods of time. A burnt roast is undo RISK for a patio/house fire.
Also
use common sense when storing chemicals of any nature in your garage.
Next to that heating furnace is NOT a good idea.
Fall When
the evening chill is in the air and you want to warm things
up with a fire in the fireplace, remember, make sure your
fireplace, chimney, and vents are all in good shape. Chimney
cleaning is strongly encouraged every two years.
Winter
The Association provides snow plowing of the major circles but homeowners are responsible for their own driveways when it pertains to snow removal. If you plan on spending a snowy weekend in the mountains, arrangements can be made for snow removal in your driveway. Please contact Monte at Home Helper, Inc (928-701-1772) The deep/heavy snows have not come yet but Mother Nature will certainly bring them. If you are in your winter home (out of the high country) and are planning a visit to MPE during the winter season, you can contact Monte to let him know you are coming up, and whether your unit needs snow plowing or not.
